How to Prioritize Your Bathroom Remodel

How to Prioritize Your Bathroom Remodel

Now that you've decided to remodel your bathroom, you've also realized how overwhelming a bathroom remodel can be. It includes browsing cabinets and vanities, all of the work needs to be done, and you may be planning a new layout, which will be more work. It doesn't have to be overwhelming. It'll seem like a breeze when you prioritize your remodel like this.

Planning Comes First

Ensure that you take the time to plan your bathroom remodel properly. This includes the complete bathroom layout, especially if you need new plumbing installed to move the toilet. According to a Home Upgrade study in 2021, 44% of the Americans surveyed planned on installing new sinks during their bathroom remodel. Consider every aspect of your bathroom and what you want to change, and put that in the plan!

Go Window Shopping Next

After you've planned what you want to do to your bathroom, it's time to start planning the materials you'll use. Window shopping can be time-consuming, but it will ensure that you stay within budget. Pick out cabinets and vanities, new bathtubs, sinks, and even drawer knobs or handles in advance. This can also make it easier to purchase materials when the time comes because you'll already know what you want.

Work Top to Bottom

Once you've started your bathroom remodel, working from the top of the room to the bottom is important. That means do the ceiling first. If you install a new bathtub and get paint on it, you'll create more work because you'll have to scrub the paint off. Complete the ceiling, then paint the walls, then start working on the rest of the bathroom.

Heavy Tasks Come Next

After you're done with the ceiling and painting, there will be quite a few other tasks to complete, such as installing cabinets and vanities, the new bathtub, and flooring, and we can't forget the towel rack! Once you reach this stage, complete the most time-consuming and hardest tasks first. For example, install the new tub before putting up the towel rack.

Small Tasks Last

Every bathroom remodel will have plenty of tiny tasks. This includes cleaning up, installing a new towel rack, putting up shelves, and perhaps adding new knobs for existing drawers. These tasks don't take long. They will be a relief to do after installing a new bathtub!
